Artist's Comments

someone whose style blows me away. I felt some sort of homage was in order, but words failed. I tried doing this pic, and making it cool and cutting edge, like her style, but instead I ended up with a skewed semi-portrait which looks very little like my intended victim. nevertheless. Hoping it will make her smile knowing how many hours I stared at her face, and knowing that it was because of this picture that I learned to paint coloured pencil with a q-tip. thank you for all the good vibes LJ.

by the way, this is more stylized than photorealistic. if you're looking for that kind of quality check out nimra and dont bother tightening your socks. he's just gonna knock 'em off anyhow. :D

This is wonderful. I've always envied people with the patience to create genuine works like this with colored pencil, and this is a great example. Your use of colors is my favorite part, especially how well you worked so many hues into the skin tone.
Also, what kind of surface was this done on? I can't quite seem to place it... it almost looks like canvas or cotton duct.

Your dreams are unlikely. But beautiful.

canvas.. those little peel-n-eat sheets that come in notebook size. :D thank you very much. the colour was muddled a bit when I decided to paint through it with turpentine and a q-tip. I really appreciate your stopping by. your gallery is quite incredible.

She is beautiful, I like the whole painted varnish look, it makes it seem like a very professional sketch, not because it is sketch like but because when you see a picture, there is some admiration if the shot is great etc. but watching a person sketch has that magic of creation. This has that. Great Rob. Thanks, I am so happy you submitted this.

eventually I would like to portrait, you, CW and Evad( among others). (send those pics) I'm Glad you liked this my brother and thank you for the gracious comments. I am a little out of practice with realism these days I note. stylizing this didn't help matters either. The subject is actually quite beautiful I'm afraid my crude attempt at perspective distortion did not do her justice. :p more on the way.. perhaps something abstract?
